How can I forget what I’ve felt
None of my pain ever showed through.
She kissed me and she kissed me again
And then she said, she wasn’t coming back anymore.
I saw her run down the stairs and throw open the door,
Out into the cold, cold street, grabbing her coat;
With a wave of one hand, and another in her pocket,
She hailed the long yellow taxi, to disappear into the night.
I watched her leave from the windows above,
Only my heart knew the words it wanted to say
Breathing heavily against the glass panes,
I stood there in silence watching the rain.
The vows or the promises didn’t matter anymore,
The dreams we saw, were not ours anymore.
Today we stood in the same world though,
But somewhere our worlds had become different long before.
